September’s here, and nothing beats a protein-packed bite 🥜
Peanut butter isn’t just comfort food — it’s a powerhouse snack that upgrades smoothies, toast, and everything in between. With plenty of protein and rich flavor, it’s a classic that sticks.
Real peanut butter is meant to be simple — just peanuts. But here’s the scoop: many popular brands sneak in added sugars, oils, and unnecessary additives.
To help you spread smarter, we’ve rounded up 10 of the best-rated peanut butters on Yuka. Simple, made with ingredients you can trust. Peanut better, one spoonful at a time. 😉

Are there any in glass rather then plastic??
Julie ,
This is great information and very well done !
Thank you very much .
You should show prices. There is surely a big range here.
Have you checked out Teddie Peanut Butter in New England, US? It’s non gmo, no sugar, gluten free, & unsalted!
wish you had tested chunky – ours is a chunky nut butter household. thanks anyway
Thank you for sharing the healthy peanut butters . Happy you help us find the right products to eat.
This is great! Thank you for doing the work for us.
Wow 👏👏👏this is amazing 👏 just leaned this about the difference in peanut butter.
Thanks alot.
You’re doing a great job 👏
Agree with avoiding peanut butter packaged in plastic containers.
It would add to the rating if you specified whether it comes packaged in plastic or glass. I only buy peanut butter and oils packaged in glass to ensure no plastic leakage into the food. Trader Joe’s uses plastic, don’t buy it.
Check out Teddie’s Peanut Butter next time. Whole Foods carries it, but it doesn’t stay on the shelf very long.
Do you take in consideration plastic from glass container?
All creamy?! What about chunky? Adams!
What criteria is ranking these? Why are they rated what they are rated?
I was told nothing with peanuts cause peanuts contain mold. Are these products mold free?
Crazy Richards should be included
Appreciate this so much!!
Excellent compilation. I would like to see the same thing for almond butter.
Were any of these brands tested for mold? I think the Trader Joe’s organic Valencia is one of the few that comes out mold free.
Love the number one peanut butter, its the only one I use.
SKIPPY THE BEST
I can get Smuckers in my area as well as some organic no additive brands you don’t list.
Curiously I buy like and buy crunchy.
Any problems with that?
Do Kroger Stores carry any of these brans?
Thanks i’ll try to use these
Thanks for your info, makes shopping easier!
I love peanut butter, thanks for sharing.
I use peanut butter like a condiment with my pancakes. Yum.
When will you rate crunchy varieties?
I’ve never seen any of these peanut butters anywhere. Heats up
Our local Walmart carries it
Cruz and Smuckers are available at Walmart.
Excellent list! Thanks for this! The brands should thank you as well because making your list brings consumers confidence to purchase any of these. Cost is another factor that is helpful, even though the focus is clearly on nutrition. Very helpful assortment.
What about powdered peanut butter?
Have used Smuckers crunchy p nut butter for a couple of years. It is an excellent product. Very tasty and loaded with protein, not additives!
What about chunky peanut butters. They are much better than creamy, but you didn’t list any.
Why did you leave out Teddy‘s peanut butter? It’s excellent!
Teddy‘s also has a crunchy version
Crazy Richard’s peanut butter is not on the list, but should be. Check it out.
You should include a more favorable rating for glass over plastic
Plastic v glass jar considerations for leaching?
Agree
Are there no peanut butters that are chunky and also highly rated?
What about Teddy’s?
Will try some of the brands listed.
Thanks for what you do. Expose them!
Where did Costco’s house brand organic peanut butter rate. I also read that it was tops among other organic peanut butters
It was on the bottom of the list, but still rated excellent 88/100
I dont like peanut butter that comes in plastic jars because butter knives scrape plastic from the inside and mix it with the peanut butter.
Turn the knife around so the non serrated back side contacts the container.
I spread my peanut butter with the back of the spoon. It works great!
Rubber/ silicone spatulas work great!!
Thank You again for You expertise information. It makes my shopping easier.
Skippy super chunk,,, mix in some Nestle’s quick powder,, and eat it right outta the jar !!!! Might not be super healthy,, but it’ll put a smile on ya face!!!!
This is a game changer, get a great product and we will buy it: If not I will go someplace else to shop! 😋
Where’s the CRUNCH? There must be some brand of peanut butter out there for those of us who prefer the crunch in our peanut delight?
What about Skippy.l
You didn’t rate Laura Scudders peanut butter! Ingredients: peanuts, salt. Fantastic taste in crunchy, smoth, and unsalted. And in glass – not plastic!
Have you investigated Sprouts Farmers Market’s creamy or crunchy, unsalted peanut butters in plastic tubs?
Thank you for this email. I’m at trader Joe’s every week and will certainly buy the #1 brand of peanut butter. Very helpful.
And, top ten non organic Peanut Butters?
I never knew peanut butter was good for you.
I LOVE YUKA. THANK YOU.
Crunchy PB?
Teddys all natural has a hi rating, according to the app and my tastebuds
They need to stop putting food in plastic containers. It defeats the purpose healthy organic foods.
What about Crazy Richard’s? I thought it was highly rated. Personally I’d buy it over Kirklands brand.
Where is Justin’s?
My guess would be because Justin’s isn’t organic and contains palm oil.
Love your app, use it when I shop!
I noticed that there are no crunchy peanut butters listed. Is there a disadvantage to the crunchy version?
How about some crunchy peanut butter ratings?
YES! I only eat CRUNCHY! 🙂
What about Teddys peanut butter
What about crunchy peanut butter.
Organic Creamy Peanut Butter – Trader Joe’s the best! Been using it for years!
I would love to see your ratings of chunky peanut butter too
I like when you list the products so when I shop I follow your suggestions.
I would like you to rate protein drinks & electrolyte drinks.
I enjoy your Yuka app!
Santa Cruz Organic dark roasted crunchy peanut butter rules!!
I prefer crunchy 😢
You should tell us whether its in a glass or plastic jar
Have you ever tried Teddie natural unsalted peanut butter?? it is my favorite!!
Teddies is awesome! I agree. But sadly it’s difficult to find in glass jars now with the metal lid, we won’t buy in plastic.
I bought the Smuckers brand.. it is delicious. My favorite snack is a fresh apple sliced, and dipped in peanut butter. Yummy and satisfying.
I love, love my Yuka app. I am able to make better product choices at the grocery store, and it is soooo easy.
Thank you Yuka!!!
Does the list change for Chunky? I love the texture of Chunky.
This is great, looks like I have some new peanut butter to try, very helpful!
Trick is stay away from no-stir they are filled with palm oil which is horrible..
Exactly!! 😁
What about Adam’s?
I second that! Where does it fall?
Thank you SO MUCH for the suggestions!!! Yes~ what about TEDDY’S?????
It’s great to have to have your services available and at no cost!! Thank you!!
Where does Teddies come in all this?
Thank you for all the information you provide, it has helped me understand what each product I consume contains.
We love your advice. We have definitely changed our eating lifestyle. We’re not perfect as we do enjoy an occasional “indulgence but less of them.
What about chunky peanut butter brands?
I love crazy Richard’s it is so good
Crazy Richard’s Peanut Butter, just peanuts excellent
Thanks for this info. I have used several of these brands!
Great list.
Wegmans in addition to their organic pb they also have a non organic ‘just peanuts’ peanut butter. Nothing added.
Did you try Crazy Ray’s Peanut Butter? No additives, just peanuts. delicious!
What about Teddys unsalted… ranking?
Thank you this was great
Why are there no “chunky” peanut butters on the list? That is my pick.
thank you for this helpful information.
I love a good peanut butter sandwich, strawberry jam and a glass of cold cold coconut milk. Thanks for sharing I will try Trader Joe’s soon!
Why no crunchy?
A lot of the questions /comments some of you are asking/commenting can be seen if you click on the “OPEN IN THE APP” button at the end of the short description…
Thank you for that peanut butter rating I’ll be buying the ones that are excellent.
How about crunchy peanut butters ?
Aldi organic also scores an 85 on the app. Beware of seed oils that many items include. YUKA does not flag them and I don’t understand why.
Are there any chunky peanut butters that um u can recommend?
You know it would be nice if you could awnser, instead of as soon as I leave a comment it gives me a thumbs up. Very rude if your trying to help people out with eating better.
Keep these reviews coming! Very helpful
Thanks for this information, I’m looking for one wirh no sugar, no, or low fat, high on protein. Which one do you suggest?, abd do you know what kinda butter is good I’m looking for on with very low sodium, no or very low fat, no cholesterol? Thank-you.
What about Justin’s peanut butter?
Thank you for the analysis and email to inform us! This is great to know : )
Because I recently had a heart attack, I have been really watching what it is I eat. I have been using Smuckers Organic Creamy Peanut Butter and I really honestly like it.
Looks like creamy peanut butter is better than chunky… is that true?
Sad that Teddy was not analyzed- they have organic versions
Great info. Thx for the overview😀
I LOVE getting these very helpful and informative emails so I can make he right choices!!! Thank you so much!!! Helen Hershman
Good stuff lol I love peanut butter and appreciate all your hard work giving us great information and love the tips. Keep them coming🥰
YUKA is a great tool to help me stop eating Garbage and paying top dollar
Thank YUKA
Thank you!
I love peanut butter I don’t like the kind that have all that oil at the top of the jar
Stir it up just once and then keep it in the Frig. It won’t separate. Just take it out a few minutes before you want to use it. You want the kind with the oil on top- it takes all kinds ofof additives to keep it from separating.
No crunchies, only smoothies
Love the Woodstock peanut butter!!!! So yummy
Thank you
Thank you for letting us know. Will be looking for them.
Whats the matter with SKIPPY CHUNKY PEANUT BUTTER ??? FOR AT LEAST 40 YEARS MY FAMILY AND I HAVE EATEN SKIPPY CHUNKY PEANUT BUTTER . WE LOVE THE TASTE .
Read the list of ingredients for Skippy and compare it to the ingredients in the peanut-butters that are recommended. You can make your own determination as to what you’re willing to ingest.
It’s junk. Sad to say
Thank you
One of my criteria for peanut butter is that it come in a glass jar-I am surprised to see you letting some that only come in plastic tank highly. Plastic is wreaking such havoc on the health of living beings.
Do any of the peanut butter have soy in them. I am allergic to soy and most peanut butter has soy in it.
I would really like to know about PHILADELPHIA NUT BUTTER COMPANY – peanut and almond butter. It tastes better than the nut butters mentioned here (fresher and smooth). It would be good to know more specifics. Thank you.
Interesting!!
Thanks for sharing. I will be on the lookout.
Your point is?
Do any of these peanut butter have 2 grams of sugar in them? I’ve tried natural organic and they all have 2 grams of sugar and fat is pretty high at 15 or more grams. Is there a peanute butter with less fat?
Thank you , please do more brands of The Top 10
I love your app but most of the things you can’t tell me . And what about bjs brand.
All of the above listed sound great. But, we live many miles from stores that offer these brands.
The only ONE in this list that our store carry is the Smuckers.
What about Nutzo at Costco
Do you consider packaging in your ratings? Are glass containers healthier than plastic for both the person and the environment?
I actually use Teddies peanut butter as it supports people with special needs and it is made in New England. I like the super crunch. Just peanuts and salt.
I guest Yuka doesn’t answer questions..
you don’t mention plastic/glass jars and what type of peanut (Runner, Virginia, Spanish, and Valencia)
They don’t call out seed oils either
It would have been helpful to include some of the more common brands such as Skippy and Peter Pan, otherwise good knowledge to have.
Organic is a French word meaning ridiculously overpriced. Any peanut butter from The Peanut Principle blows the doors off all of these inferior spreads
Your point is?
I will not eat peanut butter that is in plastic containersbecause the oils in the nut butter absorb plastic residue!
Some of your selections are in plastic
I don’t see my favorite: Teddie’s Super Crunchy Peanut Butter. Very popular here in Vermont. At the chain stores it comes in a plastic jar, but at our local Co-op you can buy it in a glass jar.
I would add Crazy Richards Peanut Butter. Peanuts are the only ingredient.
My brand was #10 but at least it made the list. I’ll try #1 next. Thank you for this research.
I agree that we need to buy products with healthy ingredients and as few ingredients as possible, but they also need to be sold in glass containers. I will no longer buy peanut butter in a plastic container. I pretty much don’t use your app anymore because I have found that things that I deem unhealthy you still give a green light to. When we know better we should do better and we now know better. Please stop giving high ratings to products with seed oils and that are sold in plastic containers.
Amen to that!!
I can’t thank you enough for researching peanut butter for me. I love it and want to be informed on my best options. Thank you so much.
All of the above listed sound great. But, we live many miles from stores that offer these brands.
You overlooked the Adam’s brand, a Smuckers brand.
My grandson & me have just done a comparison between Sun-Pat smooth & Asda own & the Asda peanut butter wiped the floor over the sun-pat we were really surprised as the sun pat was a lot more expensive lesson learned
Thank you! This was sooo helpful. Hope to see more articles like this.
The fact that some are in plastic containers should be taken into account and drop the scores. I will never buy peanut butter in a plastic jar. Once Again is my favorite brand all around for nut butters.
Appreciate the report, keep ’em coming.
Also, for us “crunchy” peanut butter lovers, it would be nice to get a report on that as well.
Yes, CRUNCHY! 😃
Yes! Crunchy is my favorite! I vote for a report on that, too!
What about Teddy’s PB?
They are all soupy and run off the bread 🙄
Have you tried reviewed crazy Richard’s
I believe this is better than your top 10
Both the creamy and crunchy
Have you tried reviewed crazy Richard’s
I believe this is better than your top 10
Both the creamy and crunchy
Agree, Creamy Richard’s is very good
Crazy Richards is good but its a runny mess..even refrigerated. I asked the about and they replied they are proud that it is runny.
Great list! Thank you!
Will y’all be able to do a list for almond butter soon? My home we’re a peanut free; my daughter is allergic to peanuts.
Kirkland brand is so liquid. Taste great but super messy.
Yes.. it liquidity varies but its usually super runny. Usually not as bad as Crazy Richards.
I prefer crunchy peanut butter. Do you have those recommendations?
It would be extremely helpful to me as your consumer to see consistency in the descriptions and for you to cite distinguishing characteristics of the products that resulted in different points being assigned. In this particular blog, all the products appear to have the almost the same ingredients (some have no salt). Some products reflect other characteristics such as nonGMO, organic, or Kosher. Do these affect the points assigned? What other factors cause the differing points?
What about chunky peanut butter?
Does this apply to crunchy of these same brands?
Must you stir all of these before eating?
Very interesting list. Thank you.
I have been enjoying the Smuckers one for several years. It’s a great value. It is a little gritty but I like it. I also use it in Pad Thai and other Asian dishes with peanut sauce. Tip: store it upside down.
I prefer almond butter any comment on good brands?
No crunchy or extra crunchy brands?
Keep sending these kinds of lists! Thank you!
Don’t forget PBFit peanut butter powder!
Santa Cruz should not be rated 94/100 when it contains palm oil. C’mon
I agree. I stopped buying Santa Cruz because of the palm oil. Otherwise it was my favorite for many years.
YUKA doesn’t flag seed oils!! I’ve emailed them several times about it and they don’t seem interested. I still use the app but check for seed oils on every label.
Why creamy only?
What about Justins???
I use Teddie peanut butter , I still think it’s the best tasting .
Good to know
I guess taste isn’t incorporated into this analysis.
What about Crazy Richards PB. One ingredient – peanuts. They have creamy (wonderfully creamy & spreadable) & chunky.
This is awesome!! Thank you so much for sharing I’m pointing me in the right direction of one of my favorite foods!!
This app is awesome! I use it all the time!!
skippy?
Old Home makes a natural peanut butter which is available in the crunchy variety. I buy the Kirkland brand and add chopped peanuts. It a messy process but so worth it!
Enjoyed. How about evaluating powdered peanut butter, too?
I don’t get it? They’re all organic peanuts with nothing but salt. How can the rating spread be 85-94? Is salt bad for you now? Lose credibility with this type of actions. Looks like opinions vs facts to me. Typical media mistake
mmmm peanut butter!
Thanks for the research!
Thank you! I am going to buy above brands next time.
What about Crazy Richards peanut butter? It is Bobby Aproved.
Since I was introduced to the Yuka app about 3mos ago. I now shop using it in all the stores I shop in. This app is definitely a game changer. I love it Now I’m on the hunt for a better peanut butter
Not a single crunchy peanut butter??? None of these should have a score more than 50. Smooth peanut butter is like chewing oil.
I always buy organ peanut butter at aldi store, it really are ssssoooo good!
What about aldi organic peanut butter?
Ok…will try these and leave Jiffy and the others alone
We’ve been eating natural pb for a very long time. Smuckers or Teddy, generally; with salt. We lived overseas for 3 years and when people would visit from the States they would bring us Smuckers. We could not get decent pb in BE.
I’m so happy my daughter introduced me to this app. There are sometimes I’m happy to see what you show me and then sometimes I get upset because you’re always using something that you used to and then you find out it’s not good for you but I give this at five stars every time I go to the grocery store I try to use it diligently. Keep doing what you’re doing because it helps a lot of us. I wish this was around when I first started my weight loss journey.
Yuka is such a wonderful app.
Thank you for doing this. You have made my food shopping and daily life in general so much better. 😊🙏
I am having so much fun using the Yuka App. Having some disappointments but learning what I need to change! You are helping the country learn how to be healthier! 💕
Thanks for the research.
Thanks for the information !!! The details makes it much easier to buy the best item.
Are there any crunchy peanut butters that are also healthy I prefer that but if not I’ll switch to creamy
I’m not a peanut butter user, but let me tell you this : I love Yuka ! Make me feel confident on my decisions.
How could you have left off Crazy Richard’s.
Crazy Richards.-Teddy Bear should be listed
I absolutely love peanut butter! But I gave up eating it as well as peanuts in general. That was one of the best decisions I’ve made because that along with watching daily calories has helped me drop a lot of weight this summer. Peanuts are just too high in calories for regular consumption.
That being said any time I smell someone eating peanut butter in the house, OH the temptation!! 😂
But I won’t bend.
Eat on celery
I’ve actually grown fond of dunking my celery in just a small amount of red vinegar with just the tiniest tiniest amount of garlic added. It’s actually not too bad. Won’t say it’s great. 😂 but not too bad.
When I was a Brownie Girl Scout in the 1950’s we learned to make Bumps on a Log. Celery, peanut butter and raisins on top. Kids still think it’s fun.
You did not suggest which ones are runny like it’s too thin of a texture and I like firmness in my peanut butter
last time i checked the santa cruz brand had palm oil in it!
I only use jiff smooth and crunchy. I can’t afford organic and anything.. Raising 3 grandkids. But I do try to buy things that are better for you when I scan my items.
We buy organic, often with salt, always chunky! “Crazy Richard’s 100% Peanuts! Crunchy” and the Kroger brand, ” Natural Crunchy Peanut Butter” with 130ml sodium per serving. So, we’re curious-why no crunchy on your list? Hey, we love Yuka!
Martha and Sandra
We have been buying Trader Joes peanut butter for some time & have recommended it to many. So glad we made the right choice. Thank you for all the great information you provide.
I tried the Kirkland variety after scanning it on your app. We had to return it as it was like soup. I may try the Trader Joes.
Yeah that Kirkland peanut butter is a sticky mess. And it just doesn’t taste good.
good to know I am switching to full circle organic
You forgot Adam’s Peanut Butter
